Me and my family really love to treat each other this time of year and it's such a lovely feeling to swap presents that you've all put so much thought into; I'm so incredibly grateful for all of the presents I received and feel completely overwhelmed by how wonderful they all are. I've seen a lot of talk and controversy on twitter over these types of posts the past few days but I always really enjoy reading them so I wanted to do one this year to show you a few bits that I got for Christmas :) I just think that if these kind of posts aren't your thing then don't read them rather than creating unnecessary negativity!
Me and my sister got these adorable little mouse gloves in our stockings from our wonderful stepmumma and I just can't get over how cute their little faces are! These are my favourite style of glove and I'm going to feel seriously cosy and happy wearing these whilst waiting for the train to work each day :)
I'm completely obsessed with Frozen (as you may already know if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram hehe!) so this train ticket holder was another amazing find from my stepmumma and it's going to brighten up my day each time the ticket inspector comes around :) I've been wanting one of these holders for ages but couldn't ever find the right one but I just absolutely love this and will probably use it some days instead of my purse if I'm going somewhere where I only need one or two cards.

This is one of my favourite book series ever but I forgot this new one was out so my mumma did really well surprising me with this :) I've heard really good things about it and can't wait to get stuck into Becky's next adventure!
Nothing beats chocolate at Christmas and I love how cute each of these bits are :) They're almost too good to eat!
I smelt this perfume in Boots a while ago when it was on offer and completely fell in love with it but didn't buy it as we were in a rush, I then searched high and low for it and couldn't find it anywhere at all as I think it's being discontinued :( James managed to track it down on Amazon and I can't even tell you how excited I was to wear this on Christmas day; it's such a beautiful floral and fresh smell and is probably one of my favourite smells ever so I seriously hope Amazon don't discontinue it too! How beautiful is the bottle as well?!
My sister surprised me with these goodies from Lush and I was so excited when I opened them as I'm completely addicted to their bath bombs and bubble bars but can't afford to buy them very often. These each smell absolutely gorgeous and she couldn't have picked me better smells considering I hadn't even told her which ones I wanted :) I love that they're all pink as well! January can be a bit of bleak month so I'm looking forward to having some pamper time with these.
She also got me this perfume and oh my goodness it's amazing; I've had the ordinary Beyonce Heat perfume before and really liked it but I found it a bit too strong for every day wear and I don't really go out in the evenings so didn't get as much use from it as I would have liked to. This one is such a prettier scent though and I'm going to have to be really strict with myself to not go through this in the speed of light as I love it so much! The bottle looks so pretty on my dressing table too :)
I've wanted both of these brush sets for a good couple of years but I could never really justify them as I didn't think I'd be able to find a use for each of the brushes. I'm so pleased I finally asked for them though and I know every blogger and their mum has these sets but they really are so fantastic and cover pretty much everything you could ever need a brush for! I'm so happy and excited to finally have them and can't wait to use them for the first time :)
I suffer with really sore and cracked lips in the winter so I was really happy to receive lots of yummy lip products to try, they all smell amazing but I'm just completely obsessed with the hot chocolate one in the ginger bread set, it tastes so good!

I'd love to hear what you got for Christmas :)

WHAT I GOT FOR CHRISTMAS 2014

Monday, 29 December 2014

The Snowman and the Snow Dog has been mine and James's favourite thing to watch this Christmas and we watched it on Christmas Eve and then again on Boxing day because we love it so much :) How cute is this little chocolate Snow Dog I got for him?!
We've received so many beautiful cards this year and it's been our first Christmas as an engaged couple so being able to get each other Fiancé cards felt very exciting :)
Stockings are definitely my favourite thing about Christmas; I woke up at about 6.30 but I was very well behaved and managed to wait until 7.30 when James woke up to tear through mine! The little spaceman paper poking out the top is one of my presents as James had a little bit of Christmas shopping rage and just grabbed the first roll of paper he saw; it was so cute though and it's made my Christmas :)
My Mumma's beautiful Christmas tree; she has such gorgeous taste and I'm always telling her she should be an interior decorator!
I absolutely adored this Cinderella-esque paper my presents from my Mumma were wrapped in :)
We were very excited when we arrived at my pappa and step-mumma's house to find the table decorated with crackers, table presents, scratch cards and party poppers galore!
We got these little wind-up penguins in our crackers and had a race with them once our bellies were full; we each put in a pound for whoever won and my lucky little number 4 was the only one who went in a straight line on the race track and he won for me!! I was rather excited and cheering him on the whole way I must admit ;)

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas <3

CHRISTMAS 2014 PHOTO DIARY

Friday, 26 December 2014

I've always been a much bigger fan of staying in than going out totally 23 going on 80 and with James away visiting family this weekend it felt like the perfect excuse to have a good old girly Saturday night in.
I organised a 'Spoonie Secret Santa' this year with some of my fellow chronically ill chums and I was incredibly happy and excited to receive this Lush 'Butterbear' bath bomb in my present from the lovely Faye. I absolutely love Lush but find it quite pricey so I wanted to save this for a special occasion, and having the time to really relax in the bath with nothing to do or worry about felt like the perfect time to use it :)
Vanilla and cocoa butter are my favourite scents and I could smell this little guy through the packaging so I knew I was going to love him. I think it's so cute how the label instructs you to 'drop into the water for a bear hug' - I did find it pretty strange having a bath without any bubbles as this is the first bath bomb I've ever used, but the water felt really moisturising and my skin felt thoroughly pampered afterwards :)
There's nothing I love more in the winter than snuggling up in bed with a good film and cosy PJ's, especially as it was so chilly last night. My sister got me these for Christmas last year and with only four days until the big day (eeeeee) it's virtually illegal to not be wearing Christmas PJ's ;)
I got a box of Roses chocolates for my birthday at the end of November and I hadn't opened them yet, so I picked out a few of my favourites to tuck into - it always starts to feel properly like Christmas once you've had some Roses/Celebrations/Hereos/Quality Street and no girly night in would be complete without some yummy treats :)
I don't get to watch girly films as much as I'd like to as me and James usually watch something together (he does quite like The Devil Wears Prada though!!) so I decided to head to bed quite early and watch two of my favourites. I always forget how much I love Becky Bloomwood, she's definitely my spirit animal!

I'd love to hear what your essentials are for a girly night in :)

GIRLY NIGHT IN FOR ONE

Sunday, 21 December 2014

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram then you may have already seen that I've had a rather exciting month as me and James are now officially engaged!! We've known for quite a while that we wanted to get married and we decided on new years eve that 2014 would be the year we'd get engaged. We had a week off work together at the start of the month so we had a special day out in Bluewater where we chose my ring together and had a posh Italian meal :) It was such a lovely day and we are both over the moon with my ring; it was the first one I tried on and was the only one the store had in stock so was a bit of omen that it was in my size. I wanted something delicate and classic and I absolutely love how the diamond stands up from the band :D
Everyone has been so happy and excited for us and I've felt completely on cloud nine; I haven't stopped smiling :) We've had so many beautiful cards from my family and the lovely ladies I work with which has really meant a lot to me and I don't think I'm ever going to want to take them down! I've had them out on the top of our radiator next to our dining room table so they have prime focus in our living room and I can enjoy looking at them all the time :) They're all so special and will be going into my little keep safe box.
My lovely assistant manager bought me my first bridal magazine which has got me incredibly excited and I had great fun looking through it and getting lots of ideas :) We're not planning to get married for a few years as we have a lot of saving to do and we want to just enjoy being engaged for a while, but I do have quite a few ideas in mind already for the kind of wedding I want to have and I've started having a look on pinterest and instagram for lots of inspiration. It's such a special occasion and I want to spend a long time planning it to make it as least stressful as possible :)
I'll stop gushing about my engagement news now hehe and move onto another important part of my life at the moment. I suffer from an illness called Fibromyalgia which is a chronic illness that there is no cure or medicine designed for so I've unfortunately been left to try and deal with the agonising pain, fatigue, exhaustion and other lovely symptoms without any real medical help. I'm experiencing a particularly bad flare up with the illness at the moment and have been getting really down in the dumps about it so I've decided to make my Instagram more Fibro focused to give myself a little positive outlet to share my progress and all things to do with the illness. There is a great community on Instagram for chronic illness sufferers called #spoonies so it's been really lovely connecting with people going through similar things. I'm trying to post a photo a day to keep myself positive and to also show a little more of my personality rather than just my outfits :) If you fancy following my journey on there my username is hollycrouch_ <3
I've come across a lot of research and people claiming that diet has a massive impact on Fibro so on Sunday I made the decision to change my diet in a positive way and try to be more healthy. I am in no way on a diet as I'm very happy with my body and I think I'm a very healthy weight, but I'm trying to focus on my health and wellness for the long run in the hopes that I will start feeling a little healthier in myself. I'm trying to eat a lot more fruit and vegetables, increase my protein intake, cut down on carbs, sugar and unhealthy fats and drink a lot more water. I used to eat chocolate every day as it always cheered me up a little and made the pain a bit more bearable, but I'm now trying to have chocolate just once or twice a week and have been researching guilt free yummy treats that I can have instead. This week I had a go at making guilt free brownies which are made from oats, peanut butter, greek yoghurt, honey, eggs and cocoa powder and they have honestly made me so happy because they are completely healthy but are absolutely delicious, especially if you pop them in the microwave for 30 seconds ;)
I've been particularly poorly today and have thankfully had the day off work so I've been trying to relax as much as possible and ended up getting changed into fresh pjs after my shower because sometimes I find normal clothes just too uncomfortable when I'm in this much pain. I've watched the Devil Wears Prada and Valentines Day this afternoon and am going to be spending the rest of my day watching more feel good films and having homemade mini ciabatta pizzas for dinner with plenty of vegetables on top :) James has been away this week on a cricket tour with his team so I'm super duper excited for him to get home although it's probably going to be about 3 in the morning eek!
